Green Eyed Bandit Everywhere you looked, the Green Eyed Bandit could be found. Lugz went right to the streets, putting a floating Erick Sermon head in major markets across the country. Some posters stayed up for over a year as a weathered Sermon looked out over the streets of cities like New York and Chicago.

Erick Sermon…. continued Erick Sermon sported a new outfit and represented Lugz in ads that appeared in the Source Magazine.

By Fall 1994, Sermon appeared in magazine ads. By then, Lugz had grown beyond our two original boots and we needed to show everyone our fresh styles. Shot on the streets of Brooklyn, the ‘Green Eyed Bandit’ represented Lugz boots and jeans and gave tremendous credibility to the new urban brand.

For Spring ’95, Erick brought Keith Murray into the picture, literally. Although it was a spring ad, it was shot on the streets of New York on one of the coldest days in December. Erick and Keith were great – they just kept working it.

T’S THE KIIIIIIIIIIID CAPRI! DJ extraordinaire Kid Capri joins the Lugz family in his first print ad for us. He sports our athletic line, along with I.G. Off and Hazadus at one of the elite health clubs in New York City.

D’Angelo with the Dirty Souls – Boots D’Angelo and the Dirty Souls returned to a local New York City “loft” to help promote our line of Lugz Boots.

D’Angelo with the Dirty Souls – Athletic Shoes R&B Crooner D’Angelo working his magic at one of the great jazz clubs in New York City. He was accompanied by the Dirty Souls – his own group he was trying to launch. This print campaign played a major role for Lugz. Not only was D’Angelo the first artist Lugz worked with outside of the “Def Squad” Camp, he was the first artist featured wearing the athletic line.

Lugz Athletic Shoe – The Carbine Lugz launches its first athletic shoe, called The Carbine. This particular high top athletic shoe featured a very unique “clear” outsole. We also released the same shoe with more traditional gum outsoles. This was the introduction of Lugz Athletics.
